Chalet le Coquelicot

Luxury Ski Chalet, Courchevel 1850

Close

The interior design brief for this luxury ski chalet was to create a highly comfortable mountain retreat, suitable for family winter ski holidays and entertaining. Providing 580 sq. metres of living, dining and bedroom spaces, each room has bespoke design features and carefully selected finishes.

In the principal open-plan living and dining room, a contemporary fireplace takes centre stage. Rich fabric tones and dark timber hues contrast with the paler wall and floor finishes, creating an elegant and sumptuous entertaining space.

Hand-crafted detailing relates directly to the chalet’s mountain location, where specialist, artisan trades are still utilised to achieve very high quality finishes. A stone-topped occasional table has a hand-finished appearance whilst being sophisticated and timeless in style.

The bespoke forged and turned staircase plunges through five levels of the chalet! A unique balustrade of ‘frozen’ glass spindles, made to our own design, cascades downwards like icicles, shimmering against the backdrop of a dark, beaded wallpaper that links each floor.

This master en-suite bathroom is a compellingly romantic setting – a timeless retreat in a mountain hideaway! The snowy whiteness of marble and the white gold mosaic accents create a classic backdrop for the inviting tub bath and the bespoke vanity unit, finished richly in Macassar ebony.

A sense of theatre and a reference to our client’s admiration for Deco design influenced the brief for this home cinema. This is a room in which to relax and be entertained in sumptuous comfort! Bespoke wall panelling, with fluted Deco motifs, together with upholstered furniture finished in rich, warm tones, inject a mood of luxury and drama. Original Hollywood studio black and white photographic portraits from the 30s and 40s imbue the space with a mood of glamorous nostalgia, albeit in a very up-to-date home cinema environment.

The basement of the chalet features a relaxing spa facility that includes swimming pool, steam and sauna facilities, along with a gym and tranquil massage room. Here, the mood of the space is defined by a sense of cool, chilly luxury! Natural materials reflect the rugged mountain setting, whilst refined surfaces and textures reflect the warmer accent tones, which imbue the space with colour and sparkling contrasts between snowy whites and warm, mellow golds. If over-exertion isn’t on the agenda, then welcomingly soft sofas afford poolside lounging space adjacent to a large-screen TV.
